We've been getting a whole lot of good use out of our hiking pack. Billie loves the thing, we love the thing-- it's been so much fun to have. On Tuesday we grabbed tacos at Rubio's before heading up Provo Canyon to spend some time on the mountain. We went on a short hike (don't even know if you can call it a hike, really) up to the prettiest overlook. It was actually a very hoppin' spot not too long ago because it's where all of the yellow flowers bloom in early July. If you follow a bunch of people who live in Utah, I am sure you saw lots of photos of it!

Kingsley came along for the adventure. He cracks us up because, though he is small, he acts like he's a mountain lion. He lead the way down the dirt pathway to the overlook. His nose was touching the ground at least 90% of the time, too. He's such a weirdo when it comes to taking in all the new smells (I suppose most dogs are that way).

We went up there with our good friends, the Terry's. They're honestly some of our very favorite people. It's weird to think that they haven't been a part of our lives for that long-- we met them about a year and a half ago thanks to our mutual love of photography, basically. We hit it off almost instantly and we've been the best of friends ever since.

The day began to get sleepy and we watched as the sun sunk lower and lower in the sky before tucking itself in to bed beneath the distant horizon. The combination of the clouds, the dwindling sunlight, and the most perfect mountain meadow made for the most spectacular view. We just sat there in that field for a moment to soak it all in.

I am grateful that I live in Utah. I'm grateful that I have access to so many beautiful places so close to home. Tay and I have often talked about moving out of Utah again but I can only imagine how much we'd miss the Utah mountains, red rocks, and autumns. It has been our home for most of our lives and we want to share our all the things we love most about this beautiful state with our kids. Anyway, that was kind of a rant. But Buffalo Peak is beautiful. You shouldn't take my word for it though, go check it out yourself.
