The best part about the holiday season is the traditions that come right along with it. Before Tay and I had Billie, we talked a lot about the traditions we wanted to continue on from our childhoods and about the traditions we'd like to begin with our own little family. I think that the traditions established in a family are what make the holidays so magical!

One of my favorite traditions of the Christmas season is heading up to Salt Lake to enjoy the lights at Temple Square. It's something I did as a child and I think that's why I have such a special place in my heart for that particular tradition. Besides, who doesn't love a million Christmas lights? They play Christmas music and have a vast assortment of things (art shows, movies, etc) going on for people to experience. They also set out a large variety of nativity scenes with different themes from different cultures across Temple Square (my favorite ones are the asian themed ones, of course).

This year we went up with my little sister and her husband. It was exceptionally crowded because we chose to go on a Saturday night, but it was still so much fun! Once we managed to find parking, we made a little pit stop at Starbucks to pick up a couple of caramel apple spices before taking a stroll down the paths surrounding the temple as they were illuminated by thousands of sparkling lights. Billie Rose was an absolute angel the entire time. She just slept all bundled up in her stroller for the duration of the evening. It was so much fun to dream about what she may be like when we go to see the lights next year! I cannot wait to share all of these holiday traditions with her.

  1. The lights at temple square are one of my favorite traditions as well! It is so fun to grow up and start your own traditions with your own family, too. It truly is what makes the holidays so special.
